Tell us a bit about yourself

Paul J Odenthal
“I was born and raised in Stayton, Oregon, baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception, and attended Saint Mary’s and Regis. My parents were
Dean [PGK, FS] and Marilyn Odenthal. I made my First Degree in Sublimity and Second/Third in Salem all in 1985. My Fourth Degree was in 1999 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Following college at Oregon State University, I spent 28 years in the Navy as a Civil Engineer Corps Officer and Seabee, retiring in 2017 at the rank of Captain. My final tour was as the Commodore of a Naval Construction Group in Gulfport, Mississippi. I am currently employed as a Senior Associate Vice President at OSU. My wife, Janet (Etzel) and I have four children: Andy, Joanna, Julia, and Daniel. Andy and his wife, Katie, are doing a great job raising our beautiful granddaughter, Emma. We are members of Immaculate Conception and love being home in Oregon!”
Why are you a Knight?
“My father was a Grand Knight and Financial Secretary. In my youth, he involved me in the acts of charity and service with the Council. He never pressured me to join the Knights but I was excited for the day I could join. Later as a member of the military, I made my Fourth Degree and experienced the outreach and support the Order gives to our service members. Why do I continue to be a Knight? Where else can you pray and serve our Lord and Savior with like minded men? I have not found a better place.”
