Miles has been a Knight since 2014 but joined our council earlier this year. Miles is an active member in his local Catholic parish (St. Mary’s Corvallis), but joined the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus council based on his strong family ties to the area including four close relatives who were Grand Knights including the grandfather he is named after, Theodore Myles Etzel.
Miles is a leader focused on developing others into the best versions of themselves. He has coached over 1,000 students from 8 different colleges and universities and currently serves as an officer in the Oregon Air National Guard, which he joined in 2012.
In 2009 Miles graduated cum laude from the Honors College at Oregon State University, and was named the Top Business Management Student in the College of Business. Miles has his M.B.A from Portland State University and has worked in human resources and procurement for two Fortune 500 companies. He has served on a number of boards and traveled the world for a variety of business, service and/or mission trips to Mexico, China, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Haiti, Germany, and St. Lucia.
He works full-time at Oregon State University where he develops students with transferable skills they hone during their student employment for their future career. Miles is also a Resident Advisor at a fraternity where he hosts a fraternity specific Bible study and mentors young men as part of the OSU Newman Center.
Miles enjoys spending time with his three godchildren, running to a good music playlist, hiking and sharing a strong cup of coffee, or tasty NW microbrew with friends and family.
Why are you a Knight?
“I joined the Knights for a sense of community and to be closer to my family roots. I also joined the Knights to have a chance to serve with fellow Catholics.”
