Each year our council comes together to celebrate Christmas and community service. The St. Anthony Council, along with community members and generous partners, collects non-perishable food donations and combines those with purchased perishable food to make up food baskets for needy families in the area. These families receive a turkey and all the trimmings for their Christmas dinner, as well as enough food to last several weeks. Last year we supplied food boxes for 15 families. We plan to deliver over 20 baskets this year.
Our Christmas Community Service Program also supports victims of disaster. In the past we have provided food, clothing, and lodging to families burned out of their homes.
Our council has a potluck celebration each year where we raise money for our Community Service Program. On December 13th our Brother Knights and their spouses will come together to purchase raffle tickets and hold a silent auction. Many generous local businesses donate items for the raffle and auction, while other business provide cash donations that go directly to our Community Service Fund. The next morning, on December 14th, Brother Knights will deliver the food baskets.
