The 3rd Degree represents a commitment to our fundamental principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. You can read more about these beliefs here.
These 5 men took an oath to our Order, our Church, and our God:
- To conduct themselves as Catholic gentlemen, and to live a life guided by the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity;
- To continue to form themselves in the Catholic faith, to live in accord with the precepts of the Catholic Church, and to participate in its Sacramental life, including Sunday Mass;
- To promote the well-being of their Brother Knights and to support the mission and activities of our council; and
- To obey the laws, rules and authority of the Order.
Men, it is an honor to call you Brothers. Our community needs men like you. We respect the commitment you have made. We are all better because of you. Welcome to our council!
More about the changes to our initiation process (New Exemplification)
Very recently, the Knights of Columbus made a change to our initiation process. In the past, this process was done privately and in secret, with certain long-standing rituals in place that dated back to the 1800s. As of today, our initiation, or exemplification, process will be done in public, celebrated with friends, family, and other faithful men, women, and children. It will typically be performed at Church, after mass, and take less than 30 minutes. This new process provides our entire faith community the opportunity to learn more about the Knights, understand who we are and what we do, and understand our commitment as Knights.
Moving forward, we welcome each and every one of you to attend our exemplifications – to encourage and support our new Knights, and to celebrate in the commitment they are making to the Order, our Church, and our God.
Look for future posts and events to note exemplification locations and times.
